Introduction

Email has evolved to a basic digital need with Gmail on top of the list of popular email services used worldwide by smartphone users in the world. One key player in this email service providers list is Edison, the mother of many popular email apps like Edison Mail.

Over the years, despite the birth of new and promising email services, email has been a victim of spam email dump. This has led Gmail and other popular email services to sell the promise of reinventing your inbox. But haven’t gone beyond a few tweaks and updates.

To rival an app like Gmail that is the prime source of daily email user habits. Edison Software decided to map it all back to the basics and approach the question of reinventing email from the ground up. OnMail with a Permission-Based Inbox gives priority to how Recipients want their inbox. It helps users decide who gets to message them.

In today’s app review, TheWebAppMarket explores how this new email service is giving back power to recipients over senders and how OnMail gives users control of their inbox, tools it uses to clean spam and protect your email privacy.

What is OnMail, Edison’s latest email service?

OnMail is a popular email service that combines a spam cleaner app with an email service interface. To fix email, OnMail breaks down complicated email actions to make your mailbox cleaner and easier to get things done.

AllOnMail users get their own email account at @onmail.co and tackle all broken parts of an email from the ground up. Giving email users control of their inbox by freeing them from invasive ad-targeting and overcomplicated UIs.

Email experts at Edison took two years to approach email from the ground up. How it breaks the old habits of Gmail fans with OnMail is a question of time but OnMail has shown a promising growth rate with mentions in leading app review websites with a growing fanbase.

Similarly, most email apps popular in 2021 offer spam control and phishing attempts but don’t go beyond that. OnMail in that department has certainly done an applaud-worthy job. OnMail has an amazing set of spam filtering and email privacy tools to track, record, and categorize every email.

Instead of having a Spam folder like you see in popular email apps like Gmail, Yahoo and others. OnMail has a “Permission Control” that puts all the Banned Senders in the Contacts section which includes all email addresses you’ve blocked from your inbox.

Features: What makes OnMail better than Gmail and other popular email services?

Unique Features of OnMail

1. Inbox Break

A feature exclusive to Premium users, Inbox Break lets you schedule your breaks in advance by day of the week, time, and account. During an Inbox Break, all messages will be barred from entering your inbox. You can still draft and send emails during an active Break. If you’ve imported other email accounts into OnMail, you’ll be able to schedule Breaks for these accounts as well.

2. Split Inbox

Create several customizable inboxes for important messages. You can manage your Split Inboxes and update the types of messages included in them anytime in Settings.

3. Smart Folders

Smart Folders are built-in tools that sort your travel, packages, bills, events, and price drops in an organized running log.

4. Nudges

OnMail Nudges are gentle reminders to either reply to a message that has been sitting in your inbox for a while or to follow up on an email that you sent that has been sitting in someone else’s inbox for a while.

5. Accept Sender

Accept or block email senders before they enter your mailbox, from the convenience of your iPhone or iPad. One-tap Unsubscribe and Block Sender also help you declare independence from unwanted mail.

6. Anti-Tracking Technology

Another impressive feature we liked in the email service was its pixel tracking blocking system. Pixel tracking is certainly a plague haunting email communication at the moment and OnMail prevents that by never letting the sender know when you open their email.

Without disabling the images, so your email stays how you would like to present it, OnMail deletes all the information sent from invisible tracking pixels.

7. Dark Mode

OnMail’s sleek Dark Mode makes the readability of email at all hours as convenient as possible and helps preserve your phone’s battery life.

8. Preview Mode

Preview Mode displays your promotional email and news in a more modern, visual format than traditional email clients. To activate preview mode from a split inbox, tap (and hold) the name of the split to toggle preview mode in any split inbox.

9. Large attachment file sharing

File size limits expanded by OnMail. In its free plan alone, OnMail offers 100 MB, a file size limit that’s four times more than Gmail, and supports 250MB – 5GB files in its premium plans.

TheWebAppMarket Verdict

OnMails does everything that Gmail does and then gives you more of what you wish you had in Gmail. It has all standard services you find in apps like Gmail, and Yahoo but also has added features based around inbox control. OnMail helps you receive and split them into categories like “messages from my boss” and “client meetings” and “pending articles” and others.

Unlike most popular email services that merely offer a fresh coat of paint to email apps like Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, or iCloud mail experience. OnMail’s permission-based inbox is a refreshing upgrade that all email users were waiting for.

It provides a viable attempt at fixing email that frees you from social media promotions, attention-hungry newsletters, and invasive updates.
