With Shift Enjoy Workout Music!

With Shift Enjoy Workout Music!

Most of us tend to perform better when we listen to music during workouts. But what about when we rest (i.e active recovery)? Think of a one-hour workout. Most likely, around half of the time is spent on some form of resting.

When resting, it’s easy to lose track of time, and very often, these moments are spent zoning off on some app. And when the rest is over, you’ll put your focus back on the intensity and your music.

But with Shift, there’s an audio experience that fits perfectly into this behavior. Shift plays podcasts to entertain you during the relaxing parts. It’s controlled by a timer, so the app will guide your workout and make sure you stick to your schedule.

Let’s explore further with TheWebAppMarket to gain insight about Shift app

What is Shift app?

Shift is an app that mixes podcasts & music into your workouts. It plays podcasts when you’re resting, and music when you’re going for it. For example, If you run, you alternate between high-pace running to music (e.g for 4 minutes), and slow-pace running to podcasts (e.g for 2 minutes).

If you do strength, you’ll listen to podcasts while resting between the workout sets, and music while you’re lifting. The whole point with Shift is that there’s a great opportunity in recognizing all the time you spend resting. By leveraging that, it gives you an optimal workout experience filled with your favorite podcasts. There are many benefits to this.

You’ll recognize that your active-work phases get more powerful because you get a break from the intense music. You’ll get way more podcasting time into your life, and the workouts generally get more exciting.

Key Features of Shift:

The main features Shift include are:

  • Getting your favorite podcasts and music library into the app with as little effort as possible. You’ll connect with your own music provider, whether that is Spotify or Apple Music. There’s also a collection of public radio channels that works great for workouts!
  • The workout timer. You’ll set up two timers, one to control how long the podcast will last, and one to control how long the music will last (unless you’re aiming for reps). The timers will repeat until you finish. The timers can also be turned off to give you more control.
  • Shifting via your headphones. You can use your headphones to shift between podcasts and music. For weightlifters, this is often the way you Shift back to the podcast after finishing your workout sets.
  • There’s also a gamification system that gives you an avatar you are responsible to keep alive. It will grow the more you train, and if you stop using the app, it will slowly die.

Costing and Pricing of Shift:

Shift is completely free of charge. Why? As it is built to solve the pain. The project started when one of the co-founders, Michael, was looking for a way to fit more podcasting into his busy early-stage start-up lifestyle.

Together with Jackson Living, and Truls Skeie, they found a productivity hack, by playing podcasts in between workout sets at the gym and playing music during lifts.

They strongly believe this can be a great product for most people, even those who struggle with motivation to work out. Therefore, it is important to give everyone an opportunity to use this core product.

What can you do with Shift?

Mixing podcasts and music works for most fitness styles. Are you a runner? Shift is perfect for this, by forcing you to alternate between low and high intensity and giving you optimized entertainment. More into lifting? Easy, you’ll listen to podcasts while resting between your workout sets.

And as soon as you jump on the weights shift is already there with your favorite workout jam. There’s also an advanced timer module if you have more complex HIIT (high-intensity interval training) needs.

You can for example create timers in the shape of work-periods of 5min-4min-3min-2min-1min with 1 min rest between.
