Interview with Akos Barazsy, the CEO of MileageWise Inc [2022]

Hi, my name is Akos Barazsy, the CEO of MileageWise Inc. Our mileage logging software has beent present in the European market for over 20 years, and 3 years ago we launched it in the United States as well. I’m also known as a co-founder of miniCRM, which is one of the most widely used CRM systems in Europe.

I’ve been through a lot of challenging and also rewarding experiences, which have helped me stay persistent. Being a leader of a company comes with huge responsibilities, you have to keep making good decisions for decades, and also keep your team motivated. It’s vital for a business to have a great team around you.

It basically means that the mileage log our users can print is 100% IRS-compliant. We check and correct over 70 logical conflicts in a mileage log before printing, which the IRS also does during an audit. I’d like to emphasize that other mileage logging software does this, which means that their users are more or less in the dark when it comes to possible mistakes in their mileage log.

These users are able to deduct their vehicle expenses for their businesses. Using MileageWise’s AI-based AdWise feature – which gives them recommendations for their forgotten or lost trips in the past based on their client list -, users tend to get a high percentage of business trips, because in other cases, those trips would be lost. Our tracking method is not based on GPS on their whole trip, monitoring every turn they take, it only records the arrival points. So they are able to edit the distances between the departure and the arrival point, if they took a detour at some point.

I’m in daily contact with the managers of each department in the company, I enjoy brainstorming with them about possible solutions in the future that might change the game. I also have other projects to deal with as I’m a business influencer as well, who is present on several social media platforms. I also wrote a book about the stock market and business life as I find great joy in these topics, and combining these with my personal social media presence gives me a space to interact with people from many different fields. I like to stay inspired.

The biggest challenge for MileageWise is to stand out from the other mileage tracker applications. Although we’re aware that our product is one-of-a-kind, we’re working hard to expand in the United States to reach as many people as possible.

As it started out as a family business, my wife also works at the company, she’s in the financial department. As we spend much of our time and energy on the company, we find tremendous joy in taking a few days off sometimes to go on vacations together. We both love skiing, this is our favorite way to blow off steam.

We’re optimizing our software all the time to provide our users with the best possible experience. We’ve developed tracking modes and features that no other similar company has, and we continue to work on finding ways for small business owners and entrepreneurs to ease their mileage logging and so they get the most out of their business mileage tax deduction.

I’d like to be the CEO of one of the top mileage tracker companies in the United States. And who knows? We might be able to expand even further from there.
