Interview with Cahill Camden, the CEO of Press Jockey [2023]

Q1) Hi Cahill, we welcome you to our WAM CEO Interview Series. How are you? Could you please introduce yourself and provide a few insights about Press Jockey for our readers?

Sure, good to connect. I’m the CEO of Press Jockey, a Saas platform that helps agencies and businesses get up to 5x more press, with 90% less effort.

Q2) First of all, Congratulations on becoming the Official Member of Forbes Business Council. You have quite a glorious career over the years starting as a Sales Manager and then eventually it started scaling upwards. How have your rich experiences motivated you to create Press Jockey? Could you please share the story for our readers?

I came up with the idea 1.5 years ago. I needed a way to optimize our agency’s impact with the clients we had. We wanted to do more, with the same amount of resources. This seemed like the logical step.

By sharing valuable insights (repeatedly) we ended up securing multiple podcast placements in the past 45-days.

Q3) Press Jockey is a unique platform for businesses to raise brand awareness. How does it help to amplify the brand presence of businesses?

You get simplicity with Press Jockey – we find and filter 1,000s of press requests each week, so you don’t have to.

You get speed with Press Jockey – you can respond quickly with proven templates and AI driven results.

You get results with Press Jockey – you get better results, with less effort, because we leverage AI, algorithms, and agency insights to get you more press.

Q4) As a press software, how does the filtration process of press requests take place that are suitable for each business in Press Jockey?

Keywords. You include the keywords you want to get requests from and the categories you want them to be and our algorithms and AI based technology will find and filter thousands of requests for you daily.

Our goal is to make your press experience profitable and easy.

Q5) As the CEO of Press Jockey, I am sure you have a hectic schedule. How do you balance your work-personal life?

I try to have at least one day off a week. Usually Sundays. I try to be away from my computer, play some tennis and be with my family.

Q6) Since you are quite interested in increasing the scaling of businesses, do you have any wishlist for trends and technologies that you want to try to create other softwares related to it?

We have a division in our company (Digital Vision Startup Studio) that is focused only in creation and development of new applications. So we are always looking for innovative ways to scale.

Q7) Workplace sanctity is important as it improves focus and helps to maintain a healthy working atmosphere amongst the employees. As the CEO, how do you maintain that balance?

I try to work from an office wherever I am in the world. Even if I’m traveling I try to find a working space so that I can be 100% focused on my work. Our team is completely remote, so they’re able to work from anywhere in the world – and we do have team members all over the world. We try to hold monthly meetings where everyone gets to hear about updates and what’s happening in the company.

Q8) Did you face any challenges before and after launching Press Jockey? If yes, how did you overcome it?

We are continuously facing challenges. Being an entrepreneur is the challenge. You’re constantly dealing with competing priorities, and you’ve got to balance a ton of different things. Not sure I’ve got the best solution, but I use Monday, have the help of my team reminding me about things, and just work really long hours.

Q9) What advice do you have for future entrepreneurs who want to create business softwares/apps but have no idea how to start?

1. Cut things down first. What is the core that drives value? Get to this first, before layering on other ideas. We have to constantly remind ourselves of this.

2. It’s way more work than you think – so be ready for it. You’ll likely feel you’re moving slower than you want. You’ll likely feel like there’s “so much to do”. There is. And you probably are moving slower than you want. So what? Keep going. It’s going to be way more work than you think – and that’s ok. If it’s a cool idea and you’re passionate about it, push forward anyway.

3. Go live often. We’re still growing, but we go live with updates every single day. We’ll likely keep this trend for as long as we can moving forward. Yes, things break, but you get fast feedback and make fast updates and changes. Go live often.

Q10) What is your five year aim for Press Jockey?

We have big plans. I would not be surprised if we’re the largest in-bound press company in the world.
